1) Costumes
Get the party started by inviting party guests to dress up as ninja turtles. Either purchase a ready-made costume or make your own. For home-made costumes, kids can wear a green top and pants. Cut two eye holes out of a strip of material, for a quick and easy eye mask. Don’t forget your ninjas will also need turtle shells. Paint a foil oven tray with green or brown paint, add straps with either ribbon or elastic.

2) Decoration
Green is your new favourite colour at this party. Lime green really pops and will create the perfect turtle-look. Decorate with balloons, streamers, table cloths and plastic tableware. To take the party theme to next level, add additional props. Ninja turtle are crime-busters. They live in the city sewer and save people from the baddies. Draw a city skyline on cardboard and place on the wall. Cut circles from silver cardboard (30cm diameter) and paste on the floor, to recreate ‘sewer entry points’. Place plastic bins around the room with labels on them reading: Toxic waste.

3) Party food
After saving the city, your ninja turtles will have worked up an appetite. Ninja turtles adore pizza. Serve up a selection of toppings. For a healthier alternative, make a cauliflower pizza base. Celery and cucumber sticks, green apples, and guacamole dip will continue the green-theme. A ninja turtle cake or cupcakes can be bought or made. To quench their thirst, make delicious, green smoothiesand place in glass jars. Line your smoothies on a table with a sign reading: Slime. Kids will love it!

The expert ninja turtle will keep the kids entertained and for a really special touch, run a ‘Ninja Turtle Training Camp’! Ninja turtles will learn all the secret moves and must-know information. Each turtle will graduate from rookie to expert, and see what’s it’s really like to be a crime-busting amphibian.

5) Games
Ninja turtles go on missions and solve problems. A treasure hunt is a fun group activity that does both. Design a set of clues that lead the turtles towards an end prize. For example, the first clue could be: Find the pink flowers. This will lead the ninja turtles to the flowerbed, where the next clue will be waiting. Mix up clues with activities. For example, ask the turtles to pull their best karate pose, in order to receive the next clue. Help your turtles along to the end point, where their prize will be waiting!

To wrap up the party, you may want to give your ninja turtles a small goodie back. Include, a small pot of green play doh, re-labelled: Toxic Waste, a green bouncy ball and a small packet of green lollies.
